This capstone project was the culmination of a series of pieces exploring a universal concept. The first were drawings and sketches going all the way back to senior year of high school. I returned to this theme again in college in both a drawing class and digital photography class. During which I explored different media such as paint, pastels, and collage as well as countless digital techniques to further manipulate photographs to create new compositions. I used the capstone project as an opportunity to build on these and experiment with ways to make them more engaging. Artists who I paid particular attention to where Wolf Vostell, Robert Rauschenberg, and the later works of Marcel Duchamp. I started building small cardboard and paper shapes evolving them into sculptures incorporating deconstructed objects. The direction and vision of my capstone project culminated in the complete encapsulation of a computer monitor in graphic collage sculpture.
